Responsibilities
Avila University 's Hooley-Bundschu Library and Learning Commons is offering a paid internship. The Intern will provide library services at Avila University, in areas that may include circulation, assisting patrons to do research, cataloguing, education and outreach, weeding, ERM maintenance, and archival processing. Internship includes training and supervision by professional librarians to gain practical work experience.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will be a current student or recent graduate of an ALA –accredited master's degree program in library and information science; have a strong interest in academic librarianship: a commitment to service; demonstrate excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication, and presentation skills; the ability to be flexible and self-motivated with assignments, projects, and departments.
Available: Fall 2017- Spring 2018 Grad. Status: Minimum, 2nd semester student. Maximum, 1 year after degree completion Maximum 20 hours per week. Hours to be completed between 8 AM- 6 PM Monday -Friday
At the conclusion of the internship, the intern will have:
- A basic knowledge of the operations and services of an academic library
- Completed a minimum of three areas of concentration
- Exposure to professional in the field of librarianship
- The ability to work creatively and collaboratively in a small academic library.
