Job Summary

The Liaison Librarian is responsible for supporting instructional, research, and collection development needs of Rockhurst, particularly in support of programs in the St. Luke's College of Nursing and Health Sciences. This position reports directly to the Research, Learning and Assessment Librarian. As a member of the library team the Discovery Services Assistant should demonstrate support of the University's Catholic and Jesuit Mission.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
 
• Provides information literacy instruction, reference, and collection management support, with particular attention to the health fields.
• Participates in the creation of instruction design tutorials and research guides.
• Acts as a liaison to assigned academic departments.
• Compiles statistics, analyzes data, and prepares reports relating to areas of responsibility in support of departmental and library goals.
• Participates in library staff meetings, regional access services related meetings and communicates relevant information to supervisor.
• Collaborates on special projects as needed.
• Participate in local, regional, or national library community.
• Participates in professional development.
 
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
 
• Master's degree in Library/Information Science from an ALA accredited program.
• At least 2 years of related experience.
• Proven strong organizational, interpersonal, and written communication skills, with the ability to prioritize and complete multiple projects simultaneously to meet deadlines.
• Proven ability to work both independently and collaboratively with all internal and external constituents.
• Demonstrated aptitude for detail-oriented work
• Ability to maintain confidentiality.
 
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS
 
• Experience in a providing library reference and research support.
• Knowledge of information literacy instruction and instructional design.
• Knowledge of collection management activities.
• Experience with using an integrated library system.
• Commitment to ongoing professional development.
• Ability to implement new technologies to enhance services and content.
 
PHYSICAL QUALIFICATIONS
The position requires the ability to move light to moderate weight library materials. The physical environment is typical of an office environment with shared workspaces.
