Senior Library Information Specialist (Interlibrary Loan)

Job Summary

The University of Missouri-Kansas City University Libraries has an opening for an Interlibrary Loan Senior Library Information Specialist. This position is part of a team that processes interlibrary loan requests, provide patron assistance, and serves as subject matter expert on interlibrary loan processes and guidelines. This position works with the rest of the Interlibrary Loan team and the Head of Resource Sharing to ensure efficient and effective services that meet the needs of the University Libraries' constituents. This position is a full-time staff position (40 hours per week with benefits) and reports to the Head of Resource Sharing.

Primary duties and responsibilities:

  • Works collaboratively with other members of the Interlibrary Loan team.
  • Processes requests for research materials.
  • Serves as a primary point of contact for users of the interlibrary loan service.
  • Develops and maintains documentation.
  • Troubleshoots technical and workflow issues.
  • Demonstrates commitment to Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion, evidenced through direct action.
  • Communicates clearly inside and outside the department to ensure timely service.
  • Oversees student employee work; provides training and regularly checks for quality.
  • Completes project work in an efficient and independent manner.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

A Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and at least 1 year of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working in a libary
  • Successful experience in a customer service role
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in teams that encompass a range of roles and knowledge
  • Demonstrated attention to detail
  • Experience working with interlibrary loan systems (ILLiad, OCLC WorldShare, Clio, BSCAN ILL, etc.)

Salary & Benefits

$15.29 - $16.00 per hour (full time; 40 hours weekly). UMKC offers extensive benefits; they are listed on the UMKC Human Resources website.

Schedule

This position works a set schedule (determined by employee and Supervisor), Monday through Friday, generally between 7:30am and 5:00pm, for a total of 40 hours weekly.
