Job Summary

The Digital Resources Librarian is a research and reference partner with an emphasis on the use and development of online information resources for teaching and learning, including web ­based resources. Working under the general direction of the Director, the Digital Resources Librarian is responsible for conceiving, planning and executing projects to digitize and preserve the unique materials of CMU, using the newly created digital repository through Shared Shelf for digital preservation. Working closely with faculty and colleagues, the Digital Resources Librarian also coordinates services associated with the digital information at Smiley Library.

The Digital Resources Librarian serves as project manager for the library and campus digital repository and archives. The position coordinates workflow for both faculty and staff members related to this project, setting priorities and serving as the final quality control checkpoint for digital projects. The position will seek out and propose projects campus ­wide. In addition this position will assist with the development of online resources, working with faculty and students on incorporating digital and electronic resources in the classroom. This will include one­-on-­one training as well as instruction sessions. This position will also assist with management of electronic resources and databases, as well as providing circulation and reference assistance as needed.

Required qualifications: Minimum qualifications include an MLS degree from an ALA accredited institution and previous library experience. Excellent written and oral communication skills and the ability to interact with students and faculty in a productive manner are a must.

Preferred qualifications: Experience with archival collections, automated reference tools and electronic resources, and metadata schemas is preferred.
