Job Summary

The Media Technician manages the day-to-day operations in the Heather MacDonald Greene Multimedia Center (HMGMC). The position provides students and faculty drop-in software support and assistance with video production, graphic design, photo editing, audio production, 3D rendering and printing, and basic computer literacy to HMGMC users of all skill levels. The Media Technician supervises the HMGMC student employees and directly oversees student employee hardware, software and customer service training. The Technician assists the Media Specialist in installing and maintaining hardware and software in the Center. The Media Technician shares responsibility for the design of a variety of promotional material that reflect the values, positions, and objectives of Kent Library and Southeast Missouri State University and produces a diverse range of marketing publications and signage.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Support Heather MacDonald Greene Multimedia Center (HMGMC) users on the effective use of production, editing, rendering and printing hardware and software
  • Manage the day-to-day operations of the HMGMC
  • Train, schedule and supervise HMGMC student employees
  • Increase awareness of the HMGMC services and resources through engaged interactions with Southeast Missouri State University students, faculty, staff and guests
  • Create and/or update library marketing and publication materials and library signage
  • Serve on Library committees

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in graphic design or a related field
  • Expertise with Adobe Creative Suite
  • Experience using Windows, MAC and tablet-based operating systems
  • Experience instructing others on the use of software and hardware
  • Knowledge of 3D modeling and printing
  • Strong interpersonal and verbal communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a group or independently, with minimal supervision
  • Available to work evenings and weekends as needed
  • Ability to lift 30 pounds with or without accommodations
  • Demonstrated experience and understanding of customer service
  • Demonstrated commitment to a diverse work environment, including working with multicultural populations and an understanding of, and sensitivity to, issues affecting women and minorities
