Christian County Library Plans to Add Digital Features

Did you receive an e-reader, tablet, or smartphone for Christmas? The Christian County Library can help you get the most out of your device, whether you are a technology novice or just looking for new ways to enjoy your device.

The library offers a Book-a-Trainer service, where patrons can sit down one-on-one with a technology trainer at the library for thirty minutes for basic instruction on using their new devices. You can call the library at 417-581-2432 visit christiancountylibrary.blogspot.com to request an appointment.

With your library card, you can also download e-books and audiobooks for free on all your devices. Christian County Library is part of a consortium of Missouri library districts called Missouri Libraries 2 Go, which allows member libraries to pool their resources to give their patrons access to far more content than these smaller library districts could afford on their own. In fact, you’ll find as a Christian County Library patron, you have access to more Overdrive e-content than you might as a member of a larger library district: more than 23,000 e-books, 4,800 audiobooks, and 500 streaming videos.

Visit your app store and download the free Overdrive Media Console app, or visit molib2go.org on your browser if you’re using a Kindle or PC. Overdrive is the system patrons use to check out and download e-content. In the app, click the Add a Library feature to search for and add Christian County Library. From there you can search our collection and borrow up to seven titles at a time, then download them instantly to your device.

If you want some tips and tricks for finding exactly what you want through Overdrive, sign up to attend our “Downloading E-Books from the Library” class, happening Jan. 10 at 3:30 p.m.
