Job Summary

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Serve as Federal Depository Library Program (FDLP) coordinator at Kent Library, a selective depository library. Coordinator responsibilities include:
    • maintain compliance with FDLP regulations
    • report to the Regional Depository Coordinator
    • maintain records and statistics
    • respond to FLDP forms and surveys
    • select and deselect government materials
    • create displays using government information
    • participate in Missouri FDLP
  • Participate in the University’s A&OER (Affordable & Open Educational Resources) Initiative through location, instruction and curation of resources with an emphasis on government information.
  • Provide instruction in the use of government information to support effective information literacy across the curriculum.
  • Create effective digital learning materials highlighting government information, e.g., online interactive tutorials, videos, and research guides.
  • Serve as liaison librarian to designated academic departments.
  • Work closely with faculty and students across the University. Interactions may be face-to-face or virtual.
  • Provide research assistance in-person, online, or by telephone, and share in the reference desk staffing rotation.
  • Participate in the development and management of library services and collections, particularly government documents.
  • Contribute to Kent Library committees, activities, and outreach, and to Southeast Missouri State University through faculty governance, committees, councils, and other working groups.
  • Establish and maintain a personal professional development program consistent with promotion, tenure, and post-professorial review.
  • Participate in the Colleges’ and Southeast’s student recruitment and retention activities

Required Qualifications:

  • ALA-accredited master’s degree (degree must be from a regionally accredited or internationally accredited/government certified university); additional teaching and curating experience with government documents or related coursework, including familiarity with the Superintendent of Documents (SuDocs) classification system, is a plus.
  • Documented experience creating digital learning materials.
  • Experience with planning, delivering, and assessing information literacy instruction.
  • Documented experience providing reference services and access to library resources.
  • Demonstrated effective written and oral communication skills.
  • Demonstrated initiative and ability to work well as a member of a group and individually.
  • Ability to meet Kent Library's and Southeast Missouri State University's tenure and promotion requirements.
