Westminster College in Fulton, Missouri, seeks a dynamic and collaborative Director of Library Services who is able to position the library as a vibrant campus partner that integrates student learning and success with information and digital literacy. This position provides leadership, management, and administration of all aspects of library services including personnel, services, collections, instruction, and physical facilities. This position also supervises one professional librarian and two support staff.  

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Develop and manage the library budget.
  • Strategically plan library services and formulate relevant library policies.
  • Position the library as a vibrant campus partner that integrates student learning and success with information and digital literacy. 
  • Partner with faculty to offer instruction and resources needed to enhance classroom instruction.
  • Evaluate selection of in-house and online resources. 
  • Supervise and train the library staff consisting of one professional librarian and two support staff. 
  • Manage small library archives.

Qualifications:

Education - MLIS (Masters Degree in Library and Information Science) or other relevant library degree is required. 

Experience -  Some experience managing personnel, budget, and collection development is preferred. 

Skills - This position requires effective human relations skills to supervise staff and to work with many constituencies; effective oral and written communication skills; and effective management skills. Competency with Microsoft Office or comparable software programs, Internet searching, and the use of microcomputers is required. Solid problem solving and decision-making skills are also needed to perform this job effectively.
