Job Summary

Rockhurst University is seeking applications for a dynamic and innovative professional to serve as Content Services Librarian, a full-time staff position in the Greenlease Library Content Management and Discovery Services Department. General Responsibilities:
▪ The Content Services Librarian reports to the Content Management and Discovery Services Librarian. This position is responsible for the oversight of the daily operations related to the acquisition of materials in all formats. The librarian maintains and monitors library acquisitions funds and budgets, in collaboration with other library staff and university departments. The librarian works closely with library staff and faculty to facilitate the identification, selection and fiscal control of resources while managing the metadata and library systems required in maintaining user access to resources.

Specific requirements include:
▪ Manages the daily operations of expenditures and accounting of the library budget, including receipt of materials, systems access and records, electronic invoicing, reconciliation, statistics and report creation. 
▪ Builds and maintains relationships with vendors to acquire, establish, and ensure consistent access to library holdings.
▪ Serves as the administrator for vendor platforms, ordering services, and content providers systems used to manage, order, or evaluate library materials.
▪ Formulates and disseminates documentation of policies, procedures, guidelines, and operational workflows to ensure accuracy and efficiency.
▪ Acts as a liaison to assigned academic departments and engages with other liaison librarians to pursue diversity and inclusion in the equitable acquisition of materials.
▪ Provides research and instruction services to students, faculty and other users as needed.
▪ Supervises student assistants in the department.
▪ Serve on university and consortium committees related to areas of responsibility as a representative of the library.
▪ Participate in national, regional, and state associations.
▪ Completes other duties assigned in support of the Rockhurst mission.
 
Required Minimum Qualifications:
▪ Master’s degree in Library Science from an ALA-accredited program. 
▪ Demonstrated ability to work both independently and in a highly collaborative setting, communicate objectives, document and solve problems in a timely manner, and prioritize multiple projects appropriately.
▪ Proficiency in using Microsoft Excel or a comparable spreadsheet program for effective data analysis and reporting.
▪ Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills to ensure effective communication at all levels.
 
Preferred Qualifications:
▪ Experience working in an academic or research library.
▪ Understanding of business and licensing models, their budget implications, and the ability to clearly communicate that understanding.
▪ Experience with the acquisition of resources, establishing workflows, and working in an integrated library system, preferably Innovative Interfaces Sierra.
▪ Working knowledge of digital tools, standards, and initiatives, such as GOBI, EBSCOnet, ISSN, MARC,  KBART.
▪ Knowledge of current developments in acquisitions strategies and collection development.
▪ Proficiency in data analysis and reporting.
▪ Ability to implement new technologies to enhance services and collections.
▪ Experience in reference services or library instruction.
▪ Experience in supervising students or part-time employees.
▪ Commitment to ongoing professional development including membership in national, state and local professional associations.
▪ Demonstrated commitment to diversity and understanding of the contributions of inclusive perspectives.
