  • Coordinates and manages authority work
  • Develops and maintains departmental policies and procedures
  • Works with other library departments to troubleshoot catalog and metadata issues
  • Provides guidance for MARC record loads
  • Acts as a metadata consultant for the library’s institutional repository, Scholars’ Mine
  • Keeps abreast of ongoing developments in metadata and cataloging
  • Gathers statistics and runs reports as necessary
  • Serves on library and University of Missouri system committees

Minimum Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Library and Information Science from a program accredited by the American Library Association by start date.
  • One year of cataloging experience using RDA, LCSH, and Library of Congress Classification.
  • Experience with integrated library systems such as III Sierra.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Two or more years of cataloging experience in an academic library
  • Experience with Innovative Interfaces Incorporated products
  • Experience with authority control
  • Experience with tools for bulk editing of metadata (MarcEdit, OpenRefine, Excel, etc.)
  • Supervisory experience
  • Knowledge of XML and related technologies
  • Familiarity with current issues and trends in metadata and cataloging, such as linked data and BIBFRAME
  • Familiarity with shared or consortia cataloging environments
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and project management skills and the ability to perform effectively in a collaborative environment
  • Successful and creative management of staff and operations
  • Ability to work effectively with scholars and university partners

All interested applicants should submit an electronic application to Missouri S&T’s Human Resources Office at http://hr.mst.edu/careers/academic/ using Job Reference Number 29565.  Acceptable electronic formats are PDF and MS Word.  The review of applications will begin on April 23, 2019 and continue until the position is filled.

Missouri S&T is one of the nation’s leading research universities with about 100 degree programs in 39 disciplines. It was founded in 1870 as one of the first technological institutions west of the Mississippi. Located about 100 miles west of St. Louis in the multicultural community of Rolla, Missouri S&T is an accessible, safe and friendly campus surrounded by Ozarks scenery. Missouri S&T offers degrees in engineering, the sciences, liberal arts, humanities and business, with master’s and Ph.D. programs available in many of the science and engineering programs and master’s degrees in biological sciences, business administration and technical communication. With nearly 9,000 students enrolled on campus and online, Missouri S&T is big enough to accommodate a diverse population, yet small enough for individuals to build high visibility and impactful careers.
