The Media Specialist manages the Heather MacDonald Greene Multimedia Center and instructs and supports Center users. The successful candidate will share in designing and maintaining the library website, signage, and promotional materials.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Manage the Heather MacDonald Greene Multimedia Center (HMGMC) and the One-Button Studio
  • Hire, schedule, train, supervise, and evaluate assigned staff, including student employees
  • Promote the HMGMC to students and faculty
  • Work with academic departments to integrate HMGMC services and resources into the University curriculum
  • Instruct and support users in effectively using HMGMC hardware and software
  • Maintain HMGMC hardware and software
  • Create and update webpages for the Library website
  • Design Kent Library signage and promotional materials
  • Serve on Library and University committees

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in graphic design or a related field
  • Experience with Adobe Creative Cloud
  • Knowledge of 3D modeling and printing
  • Knowledge of web design best practices and industry standards
  • Evidence of experience in website design and creation
  • Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills
  • Previous experience with, and an understanding of, customer service
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a group or independently, with minimal supervision
  • Ability to multi-task
  • Available to work evenings and weekends, as needed
  • Ability to lift 30 pounds with or without accommodations
  • Demonstrated commitment to a diverse work environment, including working with multi-cultural populations and an understanding of, and sensitivity to, issues affecting women and minorities
