Now, the art department of Missouri Southern State University wants to see more of them indoors. A wall-sized mural was dedicated today on the third floor of the MSSU Spiva Library.

Assistant Art Professor Kyle McKenzie says the piece is the result of hundreds of work hours put in by students in his mural class. 

"A lot more sort of nuance than a lot of murals," McKenzie explained. "It's not only designed and painted in a way that looks great from across the room, but because it's in an indoor space and people are sort of sitting nearby, it also looks great up close."

Spring must be near — the Heirloom Seed Library is open for business.

This is the third year that gardeners can grow their own vegetables, herbs and flowers by checking out seed packets on display at two branches — the Library Station and the Midtown Carnegie Branch. Gardeners can check out up to four packets of heirloom seeds with a valid library card. We especially love to hear from teachers and parents, including one Library Facebook follower who commented, “We need to go to the library for our school garden!”

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (BP) -- B&H Academic has launched the first of a 12-volume series of previously unpublished sermons by the famed British preacher Charles H. Spurgeon.

 

"The Lost Sermons of C.H. Spurgeon" series is being researched and edited by Christian T. George, assistant professor of historical theology and curator of the Spurgeon Library at Midwestern Baptist Theological Seminary, which hosted a luncheon for the launch at its Kansas City, Mo., campus.

Each week, the Christian County Library youth services staff hosts five story times across the county, including one in Nixa, one in Clever, and three at the library in Ozark. They also visit half a dozen or more child care centers and preschools in the county each week to share stories with children and their care providers.
