Type of Committee: Task force of the MOBIUS Catalog Design Advisory Committee
Charge: The MCDAC Task Force on Authority Control is charged with the following responsibilities:
- Review national standards for authority control and adopt one or more as the official authority control standard(s) for the MOBIUS consortium;
- Identify and develop authority control standards for areas not covered by the national standard(s);
- Review the existing MARS authority processing profiles and develop a consortium-wide profile for the MOBIUS clusters;
- Update or reaffirm the MCDAC Policy on Authority Control for MOBIUS, particularly with regard to all of the clusters doing the required follow-up authority work as indicated in the authority reports generated for each cluster
Statement of reporting structure: All proposed policies and other recommendations must be submitted to the MOBIUS Executive Committee for approval.
Membership: Chair: Christopher Gould; Other members: Denise Pakala, Jim Dutton, Felicity Dykas, Cathy Roeder, and Scott Peterson.
Member qualifications: Knowledge of authority control procedures & policies; interest in re-evaluating current profiles.

Communication of the Committee Minutes: Notification of meetings must be posted to the MOBIUS web calendar two weeks prior to the date of the meeting. Minutes of the meetings must be submitted to the MOBIUS Online Help Desk for posting on the MOBIUS web site within 30 days of each meeting and are accessible to any person with the proper MOBIUS permissions. Notification of posting will be sent to the MCDAC listserv.
Output: The Task Force chair will present the following deliverables:
- Statement of the adoption of national authority control standard(s) for the MOBIUS consortium;
- Completed set of local authority control standards for any areas not covered by the national standard;
- Completed MARS profile for each MOBIUS cluster;
- Completed documentation of the rationale for each profiling decision.
