Cataloging and Digital Services Librarian

Job summary: 
This position reports to the director of the library, and supervises one staff member and student assistants. Duties include cataloging, supervising physical processing of books, DVDs and serials; providing reference service and research instruction to groups and individuals; and creating documentation. The position administers and develops digital learning resources. Supervises the part-time serials and archives clerk.

Detailed description: 
Perform cataloging of all acquisitioned items; oversee physical processing of acquisitions; participate in the collaborative cataloging activities of the Mobius Library Consortium; provide high-quality reference service; provide research instruction to groups and individuals; create and maintain end-user documentation; administer, develop, promote and maintain digital learning resources; work with Campus Technology staff to ensure optimal access to students, faculty and staff; develop programming initiatives to enhance and expand the reach and effectiveness of Jannes Library; supervise the part-time serials and archives clerk; provide oversight for effective processing of serials and archives materials.
Required qualifications: 
MLS from an ALA-accredited program; library experience in cataloging; college level course work in art, design or art history. Ability to work accurately with detailed records and provide accurate data entry; working knowledge of MARC format for bibliographic records and cataloging standards and trends; working knowledge of online information resources; ability to train end-users in use of information resources. Effective interpersonal, organization, and communication skills; ability to always present a pleasant, courteous, and service-oriented attitude; proven ability to train, instruct, and supervise.
